ZimbabweTheatre for Development (TfD)GTC works with a number of organisations from local businesses and government ministries to large NGOs offering performances and hosting training/education programmes specialising in the use of TfD. In recent years, Grassroots has been focusing on its annual programme the 'Sanganisai Childrens Festival (SCF)'.
SCF aims to bring together various schools and communities from the rural areas of Masvingo to share through performances, workshops and discussions about issues relating to tuberculous (TB) and HIV/AIDS. Sanganisai Childrens FestivalIn March 2007, SCF was established by Grassroots in order to provide support for the many rural Zimbabweans that were suffering as a result of the economic difficulties, in particular, for children who had been ophaned as a result of HIV/AIDS.
The event was hugely popular with the local residents, attracting around 3000 people and included workshops and performances by students from four schools from the Masvingo region and a group of international musicians from the UK.
